HOUSING & ACCOMMODATION
In order to facilitate the AFM conference attendees with affordable and pleasant stay during the conference, Conference Organizers have reserved accommodation (limited) at Sunset Village/DeNeve Plaza on the UCLA Campus. Package rates are based on room and meal plan, and include complimentary access on an individual basis to recreation facilities on campus. Accommodations are conveniently located adjacent to meeting rooms and large dining facilities.
Package Rates for the attendees of Advances in Functional Materials 2017 are as follows:

Sunset Village and/or DeNeve Plaza rooms feature single or double occupancy rooms (two twin beds in each) with private baths. All air-conditioned rooms are non-smoking, and include cable television, daily maid service, telephones, bathroom amenities, and Internet access. Guest information is also provided in each room.
The University is responsible for ensuring that persons with disabilities have access to all University programs, services, and activities. UCLA residential facilities contain units accessible to people with disabilities. Acceptable rooms for persons with disabilities will be provided at the same cost as the regular rooms. To ensure that specific rooms are provided, please assess the needs of the participants with disabilities and inform Department of Materials Science & engineering at UCLA a minimum of fifteen (15) business days prior to AUGUST 13, 2017 of any special requests. UCLA Materials Science & Engineering’s obligation is to make certain that the program is conducted in such a manner that it is accessible to all persons with disabilities.
TELEPHONES/IN ROOM INTERNET ACCESS:
Each sleeping room is equipped with a telephone that allows complimentary access to UCLA campus extensions. Rooms in Sunset Village and/or DeNeve Plaza offer complimentary access to local calls within a certain radius of the campus. To make local and long distance calls, guests must use a prepaid telephone calling card. Phone cards are available for sale at the front desk of each residential facility.
Guests who bring their own computer/laptop can access the Internet directly via the Ethernet port in their sleeping rooms. In order to access the Internet, guests must have the Ethernet card on their computer software. If guests do not have their own Ethernet card, they can purchase one through the Covel Business Center (STC) located directly across from Sunset Village.
No animals, except guide dogs for the visually impaired, are permitted in the residential facilities.
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
Standard Housing Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Department of Materials Science & Engineering at UCLA cannot guarantee early check-ins prior to 4 p.m. on day of arrival. Every effort will be made to accommodate early arrivals, as individual rooms become available. Since a large number of participants are expected, Department of Materials Science & Engineering at UCLA will provide an appropriate area designated for check-in. A room key will be provided to the conference/program participants upon check-in. This room key is necessary for entry into the sleeping facilities and dining rooms.
Standard Housing Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. The Master Bill will close on the designated departure date. Room keys must be returned to the front desk upon check-out. Late check-out without prior front desk approval or absence of a check out at the front desk will result in charges for an additional night’s and/or nights’ room stay. Since lunch is contracted for the date of departure, each participant will receive a “last meal voucher” for access into the dining room upon check-out.
There will be a charge for each lost or unreturned key. All guests are clearly informed at check-in and check-out of any charges. These charges, if applicable will be billed to the attendees himself

FRONT DESK FUNCTIONS
All front desks are open 24 hours a day. The address, phone, and fax number of the front desk serving UCLA Materials Science & Engineering will be provided on the Group Resume.
Both telephone messages and mail may be picked up and/or dropped off at the front desk of the residential facility of where the group is residing. The address of the designated residential facility must be used for incoming mail, rather than the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, UCLA address, as the department cannot guarantee mail delivery to the respective residential facility during the busy conference season. To ensure proper handling of mail, the address must include the conference guest’s first and last name and the appropriate conference name and dates. UCLA cannot guarantee but will make every effort to return mail to UCLA Materials Science & Engineering if received after AUGUST 17, 2017.
